Ordinary concrete

Structure

Portland cement concrete provides familiar structure and installation, but its cement matrix remains susceptible in corrosive wastewater exposure.

A coating separates the cement matrix from exposure. Performance now depends on preparation, application, continuity and adhesion.

Fiberglass resists corrosion, but brings a less familiar installation system, damage sensitivity and substantial anti-flotation requirements.

The corrosion-resistant polymer matrix extends throughout the structural section. There is no cement matrix behind a coating to protect.

Name the material.

Define the binder, aggregate, reinforcement and qualification requirements. “Corrosion resistant” is not a material specification.

Connect properties to named test methods, acceptance criteria and manufacturing records. A claim without a method is advertising.
