Polymer concrete changes the material—not the familiar precast sequence. Start with the plans you have, then move from delivery through installation with the relevant P3 and component-manufacturer guidance close at hand.

01 / BEFORE THE BID

Start with what you have.

These are the main factors we use to quote every structure. If you have this information ready to go, it helps us turn pricing around quickly. If you don’t have it all, just send whatever plans and specifications you have. P3 can perform the structure takeoff, review the product requirements, and come back with any questions needed to complete your quote.

02 / DELIVERY + LIFTING

Plan the pick before the truck arrives.

Confirm component weights and use the embedded side lift pins with a spreader bar, standard chains and hooks. Keep chains within 30° of vertical and clear of the component.

01AT DELIVERY

Inspect before signing.

Document damage or shortages on the Bill of Lading and notify P3 immediately. Stage pieces level on wood blocks—never directly on the ground.

02BEFORE EACH PICK

Match the rigging to the marked lift points.

Verify the component weight and rated rigging. Lift only from the embedded side pins; do not use pipe openings or joint faces.

03BEFORE LOWERING

Protect the piece.

Keep chains off the structure, avoid impact and confirm that joining surfaces, connectors and lifting points are clean and undamaged.

03 / INSTALLATION

Four hold points prevent most avoidable problems.

  1. 01FOUNDATION

    Start level and fully supported.

    Set on a firm, stable foundation. Replace unstable material with compacted crushed stone and provide the bedding required for the design loads.

    DO NOT CONTINUE IFThe subgrade is soft, pumping, unstable or different from the approved condition.
  2. 02JOINTS

    Clean, seal and fully seat.

    Remove dirt, grease and contaminants. Install the project-specified butyl, gasket or polymer grout in the bell or keyway exactly as its manufacturer directs.

    DO NOT CONTINUE IFA joint face is chipped, contaminated, misaligned or will not seat evenly.
  3. 03PIPE CONNECTIONS

    Match the actual pipe O.D.

    Install the selected flexible rubber connector in accordance with ASTM C923 and its manufacturer instructions. Corrugated pipe requires the specified adapter.

    DO NOT CONTINUE IFThe actual O.D., opening, connector model or approved shop drawing do not agree.
  4. 04BACKFILL

    Build evenly around the structure.

    Use project-specified material, hand-place and tamp in 12–24 inch lifts, and keep heavy equipment off the manhole during backfill.

    DO NOT CONTINUE IFBackfill is moving the stack, opening joints or loading a pipe connection.

The approved project documents and current manufacturer instructions control. Obtain P3 approval before deviating from its procedure. Contractor means, methods, rigging and site safety remain the contractor’s responsibility.

These are reference documents, not a substitute for the approved project submittal. Confirm the model, size, material, and revision supplied for your structure before installation.

05 / FIELD MODIFICATIONS

Familiar tools. Better guidance before the cut.

Polymer concrete can be cut, cored, drilled, and ground with the same equipment and diamond masonry tools used for standard concrete. We recommend contacting P3 before any field modification so we can review the location and share practical guidance for a clean result.
